I know I am not the only one who can relate to that e-card. Yes, it may seem hard to believe that a personal trainer can face the same challenges as their clients, but its true! I get cravings too! Just as I tell my clients I never deprive myself of my favorite indulgences but I make sure to lean towards healthier alternatives or eat in moderation. To stay on track I do suggest removing any junk food out of the house to help with the process. Although you cannot always avoid the sweets while in the work lunch room or at a birthday bash you most certainly can at your own home.
One of my all time favorite cheats are gummies, I blame my love of them on the penny candy store in my hometown Caledonia. Unfortunately these candies along with many sugary treats are just empty calories with no nutritional value whatsoever so I try to limit myself to them only on cheat days.
Here are some healthier options to tend to when you need your sugar fix and will still keep you on track towards your goals:
- Green Tea with Honey
- 70% Dark chocolate
- Dark Chocolate covered almonds
- Spoonful of coconut oil
