Let Yourself Rest

In our fast paced world with what seems like constant demands, it may seem impossible to dial it down a few notches. Or we may just forget that we need this downtime to avoid wearing our bodies down.

Do you often feel exhausted or overwhelmed by your busy lifestyle? If work, kids, school or all of the above have you scrambling for a second to yourself, then take a moment stop for a moment and think about the things that make you happy.

When I say, “let yourself rest” I don’t mean your legs from the crazy leg workout you had, or taking a seat on the couch to watch the whole first season of Orange is the New Black on Netflix. I mean refocusing your mind and having complete clarity for a minimum of 30 minutes.

The best way to clear your mind is to do something you are extremely passionate about. What makes you destress and forget about all the problems in your world? Maybe this is something you haven’t had time to do or even forgot that you enjoyed doing it!

  • Baking
  • Scrapbooking
  • Yoga / Working out
  • Writing / Blogging
  • Music
  • Drawing

    Or doing the simplest of things that you can add into your daily routine to start your day or end your evening.

  • Making a To-Do List
  • Having a hot bubble bath
  • Painting your nails
  • Reading a good book
  • Going for a walkFor me, the best way to completely clear my mind and enjoy some downtime is to run an epsom salt bath and just relax. This calming routine helps get a better rest and look forward to that time to myself every night.

It seems so simple yet we neglect to give ourselves 30 minutes a day to press the pause button and appreciate what matters most. Letting yourself rest to enjoy the simple things in life will clear your mind of negativity and allow you to feel more at ease for the bigger and busier things that come your way. Whatever it may be, schedule the time in your calendar to fully enjoy it.
